The “Regional Power Creation Advisor” program is a system through which individuals with expert knowledge provide advice and support to local governments to help solve the various issues they face. It aims to promote interdisciplinary regional development.
Mr. Ohya has been working on regional revitalization centered on corporate attraction and digital human resource development in Amakusa City, Kumamoto Prefecture. His initiatives are grounded in the realities of the local community and include building sustainable relationships between businesses and the region, developing telework environments that allow for the balance of work with childcare and caregiving, and creating platforms that support diverse workstyles.
To date, Mr. Ohya has supported the attraction of over 20 companies—mainly IT firms headquartered in urban areas—to Amakusa City over the past three years, creating more than 100 jobs. In the field of telework human resource development, he has helped train over 100 teleworkers through seminars and skill-up programs, building a solid track record rooted in the local community.
Through this advisor appointment, Mr. Ohya will work to share the expertise cultivated in Amakusa across Japan and contribute to the creation of “sustainable regional societies” by integrating that know-how into the unique resources and characteristics of each region.
