As part of the “Sports-Centered Community Development” initiative, Mihama Town has introduced the “English Sports Camp” in physical education classes and after-school programs at elementary schools. This program aims to address the decline in children’s physical fitness and athletic ability while simultaneously improving their English language output skills.

■ What is the English Sports Camp?

Based on the Total Physical Response method, which combines language learning with physical movement, the English Sports Camp incorporates elements of sports science to effectively develop children’s physical fitness and athletic skills while efficiently enhancing their language acquisition. Currently, the program is implemented at Kowa Elementary School in Mihama Town, led by British instructor Stuart.
