Akiota Town Welcomes a Globally Active Cyclist Family

Report
2024.12.02

From fiscal year 2024, our company has been promoting tourism product and tourism development projects. At the request of the Destination Management Organization (DMO), General Incorporated Association Chiiki Shosha Akioota, in Akiota Town, Yamagata District, Hiroshima Prefecture, we have taken charge of planning and operating inbound cycle tourism projects. As ambassadors responsible for developing routes, discovering tourism resources, and promoting overseas, we invited the globally active nomad cyclist Pauch family to Akiota Town.

The Swiss couple Xavier and Céline Pauch began their journey cycling around the world in 2010. Traveling with their two daughters, who were born along the way, this family has participated in over 200 talk events worldwide and is comprised of experts in tourism policy planning involved in tourism development.

Our company, together with the family, spent one month during the summer and autumn exploring cycling routes in Akiota Town, uncovering local tourism resources and creating experiential content.

On November 13 and 15, the family visited the Akiota Town Hall and held discussions with Mayor Hiroaki Hashimoto and Vice Mayor Fumi Kimura. They shared the route maps created by the family and emphasized the importance of tourism policies that leverage the untouched nature characteristic of Oku-Aki, while proposing efforts toward cycle tourism development aimed at the global market.
